Issue 147    Sept 1st   to December 1st 2020

Really Important message from the Chairman of CHAIN.

Hope you are all well and have coped with Lockdown and also that those who have been Shielding have come through the  4 months safely.

Firstly I wish to pay tribute to Hungerford Isolation Group and in particular, Geordie and Kala Taylor, for all the hard work they put in to helping so many vulnerable people in Hungerford. Also Ted Angell and the Drivers of the Handybus who helped to deliver Food Parcels during Lockdown.

Many of our Volunteers are over 70 and/or Shielding so most of Chain could not operate, the Chain Office reopened on the 3rd August and the Handybus started to do a scaled down Market Run on the 5th. We are taking all necessary Covid 19 precautions and we are pleased to be back serving our community.

Sadly Chain Trustees have had 2 resignations during Lockdown so I would like to thank Sue Watts for all her help with organising the Pub Lunches and wish her well for the future. The other resignation was Neale Marney and my thanks go to Neale for his work with the ‘Chairman Vehicle’ and also his invaluable First Aid help. I wish you well for the future Neale.

My time with Chain has been immensely rewarding but I have decided that over the last 2 years I have not been able to devote enough of my time and energy to Chain and without the help of the other Trustees, in particular Ted Angell and George Ham, Chain would not have continued to run so effectively.  I have therefore decided I must resign as my commitment has to be to my family. I have told the Trustees that I will carry on until another Chairman is found but would like it to be sooner rather than later.

This may be my last Chairman’s report so I would like to thank all the Trustees who have served with me and all our wonderful volunteers. Please ring me 01488 683302 or   or the Chain Office 01488 683727 between 9-11 mon to fri if you are interested in Volunteering or becoming a Trustee.
