Hungerford Library News

The first phase of our libraries reopening is now in progress and we are delighted that our At Home service is running again and that all West Berkshire library buildings are now open for book collections by appointment.

It’s been lovely to welcome back our customers for collecting books they’ve either reserved or they’ve ordered using our new Order and Collect service!

Customers can use the normal reservations service for specific titles, or our new Order & Collect service to tell us about the sort of books you’d like to read. We then hand-pick a selection of titles (up to a maximum of five), according to your requirements, and let you know when they are ready to collect. With Order & Collect we aim to choose books that you will enjoy reading and perhaps introduce you to some new authors!

At the time of writing we are working hard on our plans for the next phase of restoring the library service, in line with government guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19. We hope that at the time of you reading this we will be able to offer limited public access to our buildings for browsing and borrowing (sometime in September).

Don’t forget that we have an extensive selection of online resources including e-books, e-audio books, e-newspapers and e-magazines – please refer to our website for further information:

Also look for us on Facebook (west berkshire libraries) or Instagram (westberkslibraries) for information updates and fun online events – and share your reading experiences via our new Facebook Group ‘West Berks Reads’.

Our library staff are Martina, Zoë and Hilary, supported by our excellent volunteers. We look forward to welcoming you to the library and thank you for your continued support. For more information call 01488 682660 or email us at                                 ZC
