News from the Friends of Hungerford Primary School
Well, we had a promising start to the year, but then it all came to a crashing halt thanks to you know what! It’s been a strange few months, but everyone in our school community has pulled together to support each other. Hopefully things might be a little more ‘normal’ in September.
Jumble sale at Hungerford Town Hall
This increasingly popular event was a huge success. A big venue in a central position really paid off with us taking over £1000 profit in all. Local businesses supported us with raffle prizes: https://hungerfordprimaryschool.co.uk/westberks/primary/hungerford/site/pages/ourpta/oursponsors
Dickins Hopgood Chidley sponsored the event, with Interprint of Swindon printing our leaflets free of charge. Christian Alba donated delicious bacon for butties, and Tesco supplied the buns and other refreshment items for free. We plan to be back next February, global pandemics allowing of course. If your company would like to sponsor us we’d be delighted to hear from you – we desperately need to hire a big van next time!
We want to say a big thank you to all the lovely people who volunteer to help us at events, and in all sorts of other ways. We could not do it without you!
We are really pleased with what we’ve managed to achieve so far this year, but we haven’t been able to raise as much income as usual, due to us having to cancel all our spring and summer events. We are keen to apply for grants wherever possible, and this will be even more important going ahead into still uncertain times.
We successfully applied to the coop community fund for some IT skills boosting robots – so far we’ve raised over £300. It’s still going until November so remember to choose us as your local cause online and swipe your membership card when shopping. Follow this link:
We will be in Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme soon (fingers crossed), to help fund the development of outdoor play areas. We also have two other grant applications currently in the pipeline at the time of writing.
